A military official from the Islamic Republic has announced that Iran has devised a plan to attack US soil, which would be executed in the event of a US attack on Iran.
Citing a senior Israeli defense official, the *Jerusalem Post* reported that—amidst the stalling of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the US and mounting pressure from Washington—Tehran is weighing its options for responding to the current situation.
According to the Israeli official, Iran is seeking ways to break out of the current impasse and is likely considering the possibility of influencing the US elections. He added that there have been numerous warnings in recent weeks regarding potential attacks on Israel from various directions, and that Hezbollah would factor into Tehran's calculations in the event of a confrontation between Iran and Israel.
The Israeli official deemed US economic pressures and sanctions effective, noting that the value of the rial has recently hit a record low and the cost of living in Iran has risen.
The *Jerusalem Post* report noted that approximately 30 to 40 oil tankers pass through the Strait of Hormuz daily—a volume approaching pre-war levels—indicating a decline in Iran's influence over traffic in this strategic waterway.
Regarding the impact of the "US naval blockade against Iran," the senior Israeli official stated that this measure has severely limited Tehran's options. He also emphasized that Iranian attempts to target ships in the Strait of Hormuz and carry out attacks abroad have so far failed.
Citing other Israeli defense officials, the *Jerusalem Post* reported that unless Iran takes military action to break the naval blockade or reaches an understanding with the US, it will face escalating domestic problems stemming from the sanctions.
According to the newspaper, the Israeli military is preparing for a potential Iranian response. According to assessments by Israeli officials, if Tehran concludes that an attack on Iran is imminent or that it is losing its position in a confrontation with the United States, it might target American assets in Jordan or Israel.
A senior Israeli defense official told *The Jerusalem Post* that the Islamic Republic is aware of the consequences of such a move, and believes this is precisely what has prevented an attack on Israel so far.
