A Shocking Femicide in Harsin: The Brutal Murder of #Zahra_Soleimani Under the Shadow of the Islamic Republic’s Misogynistic Laws

 

Zahra Soleimani, a 32-year-old woman from Harsin, has fallen victim to yet another shocking crime committed under the fabricated pretext of "honor." According to published reports, she was subjected to severe torture—including the breaking of her arms and legs—before being strangled to death by her husband, Kamran Safari Pasari, and her own mother, Maryam Safari Pasari (who is also the perpetrator's aunt).
The victim’s body was laid to rest at the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Kermanshah. Although the suspects have been arrested, reports indicate that the victim's next of kin are facing intense pressure and death threats, aimed at coercing them into granting "consent" [to pardon the killers]. Under the misogynistic and discriminatory laws of the Islamic Republic, this practice effectively gives perpetrators a free hand to commit violence against women and fosters a culture of impunity.
By leaving legal loopholes open and providing structural protection to perpetrators in cases of femicide, the Islamic Republic’s judicial system has consistently acted as a primary accomplice to the misogyny and domestic violence prevalent in Iran.
