The Free Women's Society of Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR) announced in a statement that nearly three months after the disappearance of two of its members in Urmia, their families still have no clear information regarding their status or whereabouts.

In its statement, the organization described the detention of Zahra Pirdehghan and Parvin Rasegh Ghezelbash by security forces as an act of enforced disappearance and demanded an immediate disclosure of their fate.
According to the KJAR statement, Zahra Pirdehghan (from Chaldoran) and Parvin Rasegh Ghezelbash (from Maku) were in Urmia for activities related to women's issues and disappeared within a few days of each other.

KJAR stated that, following inquiries, it concluded both women had been detained; however, their families have received no response regarding their status.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network had previously reported that Zahra Pirdehghan and Parvin Rasegh Ghezelbash were detained on June 25 and June 28, respectively, by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to the network, they were initially transferred to the IRGC Intelligence detention center at the Al-Mahdi Garrison in Urmia. Nevertheless, their families remain unaware of their current whereabouts or any potential charges against them.

The KJAR statement, released today (Saturday, September 26), also notes that the families have been pressured to refrain from pursuing legal action. The organization has called upon human rights bodies and women's organizations to take action to clarify the status of the two women.

Amnesty International defines enforced disappearance as occurring when a person is detained by state agents—or with state authorization—and authorities subsequently refuse to disclose the individual's fate or whereabouts.

لە بەیاننامەکەی KJAR کە ئەمڕۆ (شەممە ٢٦ی ئەیلول) بڵاوکراوەتەوە، هەروەها ئاماژە بەوە کراوە کە فشار خراوەتە سەر ئەو خێزانانە بۆ ئەوەی خۆیان لە بەدواداچوونی ڕێکاری یاسایی بەدوور بگرن. ڕێکخراوەکە داوای لە دەزگاکانی مافی مرۆڤ و ڕێکخراوەکانی ژنان کردووە، هەنگاو بنێن بۆ ڕوونکردنەوەی پێگەی ئەو دوو ژنە.

ڕێکخراوی لێبوردنی نێودەوڵەتی دیارنەمانی زۆرەملێ بەو شێوەیە پێناسە دەکات کە کاتێک کەسێک لەلایەن بریکارەکانی دەوڵەتەوە دەستبەسەر دەکرێت- یان بە مۆڵەتی دەوڵەت- و دواتر دەسەڵاتداران ڕەتیدەکەنەوە چارەنووسی تاکەکەسەکە یان شوێنی خۆی ئاشکرا بکەن.
