The performance piece *Silent*, written and directed by Seyed Souran Hosseini and featuring 85 artists from Marivan, addresses the issues of *kolbari* (cross-border porterage), youth unemployment, and the lack of job opportunities.

 The performance piece *Silent*, written and directed by Seyed Souran Hosseini and featuring 85 artists from Marivan, addresses the issues of *kolbari* (cross-border porterage), youth unemployment, and the lack of job opportunities.

 

Utilizing physical theater and site-specific performance, the work raises the question of why some young people turn to *kolbari* to earn a living.
*Silent* brings to the stage the experience of a generation whose choices have been constrained by unemployment and a scarcity of jobs, driving some of them toward perilous border routes.
