Hossein Shariatmadari, editor-in-chief of Kayhan and the Supreme Leader’s representative at the newspaper, has publicly suggested disrupting — or even cutting — subsea communication cables in the Persian Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz.

 

The timing is what makes this especially significant.

According to a U.S. official cited in regional reporting, recent American strikes were conducted pre-emptively and were partly aimed at disrupting an Iranian plan targeting subsea cables near Hormuz.

U.S. strikes reportedly hit maritime assets, communications facilities, radar systems, mine-laying capabilities and other IRGC infrastructure.

The sequence raises an obvious question:

Did Shariatmadari merely voice a new media proposal — or publicly echo a scenario that had already existed inside the Islamic Republic’s security calculations?

No operational link has been publicly proven. But the overlap between the reported U.S. intelligence and Shariatmadari’s public call is difficult to ignore.

بەپێی زانیارییەکان، هێرشەکانی ئەمریکا زیانیان بە سەروەت و سامانی دەریایی، دامەزراوە پەیوەندییەکان، سیستەمی ڕادار، تواناکانی دانانی مین و ژێرخانی دیکەی IRGC کەوتووە.

زنجیرەکە پرسیارێکی ئاشکرا دەوروژێنێت:
