The request for a retrial for Arghavan Fallahi, a 24-year-old political prisoner sentenced to death, has been rejected. This rejection has heightened concerns regarding the imminent execution of her sentence.

Arghavan Fallahi, a 24-year-old political prisoner held in Evin Prison, was sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati. The verdict was issued based on the charge of *baghi* (armed rebellion against the state).

Arghavan was sentenced to death for *baghi* despite the fact that—according to her lawyer in an interview with *Emtedad*—no weapons were ever found in her possession. Furthermore, during the "12-Day War" and the bombing of Evin Prison—a situation where she could have actually escaped when the prison gates and guard posts were struck—she chose to stay; she rushed to aid injured prison guards, used her own clothing to bind the severed jugular vein of a staff member, and effectively saved his life while awaiting the arrival of emergency responders.
